Longmont Earth Day Family Fun 2018

For Longmont, Niwot, Frederick/Firestone, and Lyons!

Earth day 2018 is a great opportunity to get your family out and about while learning how to support the planet that supports us!   Events are running Saturday, April 21st and Sunday, April 22nd.

Here are some local and Denver events to check out.  


Sustainable Resilient Longmont at the Longmont Museum-  400 Quail Rd., Longmont 80501

Performances, Kids Crafts, Booths, Music and Family Fun at the Longmont Museum this Saturday.


 

Earth Day at Rocky Mountain National Park- 1000 US Hwy 36, Estes Park, CO 80517                                                                                            

Come celebrate Earth Day at Rocky Mountain National Park. A special Earth Day event will be held Saturday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Beaver Meadows Visitor Center and entrance to the park is free on Saturday.  There will be an Arts & Crafts station to create cool Earth Day artwork, and park staff and scientists will be on hand to share information on a variety of Earth Day topics! We will also be opening up the park greenhouse for tours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering a great way to see young plants springing to life.  It's also Junior Ranger Day at Rocky Mountain National Park.  There is family fun for everyone!

Join us Earth Day Weekend on the farm for a community day of planting.  We will meet at the pavilion at 11am to hear the background on the planting projects and to receive guidance on planting techniques. This is an educational, hands-on, family friendly event. We plan to wrap up the planting activities around 2pm and will have some social time to enjoy refreshments after we wrap up!

Sunday Apr 22, 2018 - Number of Volunteers: 50

In September 2013 the St. Vrain Creek flooded, devastating multiple communities in the area. Five years later, Federal disaster relief money is funding permanent repairs of the river.  Join WRV in revegetating this beautiful area. Apple Valley is northwest of Lyons, and the stream channel has been repaired through extensive heavy equipment work. Volunteers will plant native seed, spread soil amendments and WoodStraw, and plant thousands of native shrubs and trees.

2018 Colorado Earth Day Denver

Colorado Earth Day will feature live music by The Broadcast, a soulful Americana rock group from Asheville North Carolina, yoga presented by Hanuman Festival with Gina Caputo - Yogini On The Loose, a beer garden, guest speakers, vendors & local merchandise, as well as thousands of motivated individuals looking to make a difference for the Earth!  This event is FREE and family friendly!  9 AM to 4 PM at the State Capitol Grounds in Denver, CO
 
UPDATE: Yoga with Gina Caputo at CO Earth Day Celebration! will be moving indoors due to weather. See you on 4/21 at 9 AM at The Savoy, 2700 Arapahoe St in Denver! Join us at the State Capitol following our class to celebrate the planet with live music, vendors, and a beer garden!

                                             



Nature For Kids & Parents: Prairie Dog Town - Boulder
Sun. April 22, 1 - 3 p.m.  EARTH DAY!
Meet Debora Martin, volunteer naturalist at the Cottonwood trailhead for an adventure into the prairie dog ecosystem.  Listen for their calls and watch them communicate danger.  Look above for the red-tailed hawk, and possibly the coyote on the move!  We will observe quietly, and play a game about the prairie dog town.
