Winter Fest at Gaylord of the Rockies

Day Trip or Staycation?

By Michele Pullo, Publisher of Macaroni Kid Longmont-Frederick February 13, 2021

Last weekend we celebrated my kid's birthdays. Well, birthday. They share the same birthday just 5 years apart. We usually try to get away for a short trip and thanks to Gaylord of the Rockies this year was no exception!

Originally, we were going to visit Gaylord's Glacier Point Winter Fest for the day. We were looking forward to ice skating, snow tubing, and the ice bumper cars. It was a quick trip from Longmont, only 45 minutes, but we decided that since this beautiful resort had so many Covid precautions in place, we'd make it a staycation and spend the night!

They have an amazing pool area that we booked before we arrived. If you're planning to stay, book your pool time first! The indoor pool has two slides (one that goes outside the building!) and my daughter was a huge fan! If you're willing the brave the winter elements, you don't need a reservation for the outdoor pool and jacuzzi. The pool is heated and so is the concrete! I need that for my walkway at home!

As for Winter Fest.. we had a blast! The ice skating is perfect for younger skaters, those new to the ice, or me. I'm not exactly a pro, but get me on the ice bumper cards and watch out! The tubing was a blast. It wasn't too busy, so my kids and I went several times in a row. Luckily, the tickets are for unlimited rides. They also had a super cute tubing ride for little ones, but my kids are too big for it, unfortunately.

The room was lovely and I really felt like we were at a resort, not just a hotel that's only 45 minutes from home! If you go, make sure you catch the Light! installation. It was absolutely beautiful and we could see it from our room. Of course, you don't have to stay to check the Light show out. It runs from dusk to dawn. We missed out on the S'mores and the Silent Disco, but only because my kiddos were wiped out after dinner... ok, I was too.

Gaylord really goes the extra mile to provide family fun for all. Winter Fest is running through February 28th. Get your tickets for these activities, all designed in accordance with enhanced
and rigorous cleanliness standards, at tickets.gaylordrockies.com.

Our tickets for ice skating and snow tubing were given to us by Gaylord of the Rockies, but my opinions are my own.
