Description

Join us at Crist Park on Friday, May 24 at 4 pm to start your Memorial Day weekend by remembering and mourning those who have died while serving in the United States armed forces. This ceremony includes the national anthem, community stories of service members, a moment of silence, and Taps played on the trumpet.

Community Stories of Service Members

Members of the Carbon Valley are welcome and encouraged to attend and share stories of their loved service members during the ceremony.

Poppy Pick Up

Our Memorial Day Ceremony occurs on National Poppy Day, which encourages wearing a red poppy to honor the fallen and support the living who have worn our nation's uniform. The red poppy is a nationally recognized symbol of sacrifice worn by Americans since World War I to honor those who served and died for our country in all wars.

Join us by wearing a poppy on Friday, May 24, to remember and honor the veterans and soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice. Local downtown businesses are joining this effort by distributing poppy flowers to the community from Monday, May 20 through Friday, May 24. During their business hours, visit one of our Poppy Pick Up Partners (participating locations below) to receive your free poppy.
